Mayor & Council

The City of Brundidge is governed by an elected mayor and five-member city council who are responsible for carrying out any lawful purpose for the advancement of the interest, welfare, health, morals, comfort, safety, and convenience of the city and its citizens.

 

 

DISTRICT ONE

BETTY BAXTER

Betty Baxter is a native of Clio, AL who during her childhood lived in Enterprise, AL for a number of years and received her education at Coppenville High School in Enterprise, AL, and attended Enterprise Jr. College for one year in nursing.  She later married and moved back to Clio, AL, and worked at Van Husen Shirt Factory for two years.  She later moved to Brundidge, AL, where she worked at Fruit of the Loom for 31 years as an Inspector, later moved to Quality Check, and then as Assistant Supervisor until her retirement.  She was hired on with Russell Corporation as a Floater.

She is a member of the Sweet Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev. Nathaniel Larkin is her pastor.  She is Matron’s President, Choir Member, Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School, and does any other work wherever there is a need. 

She now works part-time at Magnolia Lodge Therapeutic Inc.; where she has retained her Medical Assistant Caregiver, First Aid and C.P.R. Degree.  She has three children and three grandchildren. 

She loves to work with all people, and her motto is “Everybody needs to be treated right.” 

DISTRICT THREE

MARGARET ROSS

Margaret Sawyer Ross is a native of Frisco City, Alabama.

She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in physical education from Troy University.  She taught in her major field for 30 years in Pike County and Ozark City school systems.

After retiring from teaching, Mrs. Ross began working part-time at First National Bank, a position she has held for 17 years.

Mrs. Ross is married to Thomas "Bud" Ross, a longtime resident of Brundidge.  They have been married for 47 years.  She is involved in civic, community and church activities.  She is a member of the South Central Development Commission, the Pike Piddlers Storytelling Committee, and the Brundidge Methodist Church, where is chair of the senior adult activities.

In her leisure time, she enjoys horseback riding.  She has two horses and rides as often as the weather permits.  She also enjoys swimming and attending arts and crafts events.

She is honored to represent District 3 on the Brundidge City Council and working to make Brundidge all that its residents would like for it to be.

BYRON GAYNOR

Bryon Gaynor is a native of Brundidge, AL. He is a graduate of Pike County High School.  He is a member of New Hope Independent Holy Church of God, Brundidge, AL, where he serves as Vice-President and Musician of the Senior Choir, he is also affiliated with the Youth Department.

 

Byron is a proud father of one son, Spencer Juan Gaynor.
